​Annual General Meeting / Online Registration

The WMBA is hosting their 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 7:00pm at the Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre. Online registrations will not open until after the AGM on January 1, 2026.

Policies and Guidelines Handbook

The WMBA Executive has established a Policies and Guidelines Handbook to assist the current and future Executive along with its members (players, parents, guardians) with direction in regard to refunds, imports, underage and overage requests, roster size, roster selection, player transfer requests and consistency in uniforms/apparel. Required Equipment

Black baseball pants, yellow belts, and yellow socks are required, along with a glove, running shoes (plastic cleats are allowed but not required), protective cup, baseball helmet, and a water bottle. A WMBA jersey is provided in the first or second week of the season. A $30 non-refundable jersey deposit, collected during registration, goes toward the purchase of new jerseys every 3–5 years.

Practices / Games Format

​Practices and games are held on Tuesday and Thursdays. Games are scheduled through Pembina League.

Coaches Required and Coaching Resources

A Head Coach and Assistant Coach are assigned to each softball team. Parents are also encouraged to assist the coaches as Parent Helpers.   The Softball Director coordinates coaches' meetings prior to the season starting that allows coaches to meet each other, go through their equipment bag, review the Softball Package (schedule, rules, format, modifications, etc.) and ask questions.   The WMBA provides all levels with coaching resources located on our website. ** Coaching Courses are Mandatory through Softball Alberta. WMBA will reimburse costs associated with coaching courses for each coach.**

​House League Requirements

Softball Alberta now requires that all affiliated MINOR softball coaches, assistant coaches and managers (U19 categories and lower) complete or have completed the online Respect in Sport (RiS) certification for “Activity Leaders” which can be found HERE or complete the Safe Sport through Coach.ca (the Locker) available in the e-learning session. It’s a free course with no expiry- takes about 90 minutes this can be accepted instead of Respect in Sport if Respect in Sport is expired or has not yet been taken. 

 

The Respect in Sport Activity Leader Program educates youth leaders, coaches, managers and officials to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD). Every minor coach entered in the RAMP registration platform must enter their certificate number into their RAMP profile account.

Coaches will need to take the online course and the certification will be valid for all sports.  If a coach has taken RiS Activity Leader through another sport, it will be valid for softball. The certificate is valid for 5 years with Softball Alberta – upon expiration, coaches will have to take the course again.

Coaches who do not have a valid certificate will have until JUNE 1st to complete the RiS certification for “Activity Leaders”.   Any coach who does not complete their RiS certification by the JUNE 1st deadline will be ineligible as a member of Softball Alberta and will be removed from the current season’s RAMP database until the course is completed.​​
